Seoul to open ‘Seoul Book Reading Plaza’, ‘Gwanghwamun Book Market’, and more from next month 18th
The city of Seoul is hosting the Seoul Open Air Library every Thursday through Sunday from April 18 to November 10. This year, it will be held in three locations: Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Plaza, and Cheonggyecheon.”
‘Seoul Plaza’ is held four times a week (Thursday through Sunday) and ‘Gwanghwamun Book Market’ is held three times a week (Friday through Sunday). ‘Cheonggyecheon Stream of Reading’ is open twice a week (Friday-Saturday) from April to June and September to October, and this year, Seoul Plaza and Gwanghwamun Book Market will not close in the middle of summer, but will be renamed ‘night libraries’ and will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The three outdoor libraries will also be specialized with different themes for each space. Seoul Plaza will be themed as an “urban living room” where the whole family can relax, with new “family beanbags” for families and friends to sit and read together. Cheonggyecheon Stream will be transformed into an “immersive space” where visitors can let go of their daily worries with the soothing sounds of the stream.
